Academic achievement is a high priority to our members. Many of our sisters have received full or partial merit scholarships from the University, are recognized as Phi Beta Kappa laureates, are members of Honors Carolina, are Robertson Scholars, and work diligently to prioritize their academics and lifelong learning. Spring 2021, our chapter ranked 2rd in academic performance out of all Panhellenic organizations with a 3.77 GPA.
In addition, Theta Tau is very proud of our extracurricular achievements. Many of our sisters are involved in various professional and service organizations, serve in Student Government, work as Teaching and Learning Assistants in university departments, and are members of countless other campus groups. Our chapter members have 100% outside involvement and ZTA received the Most Campus Involvement Award from the UNC Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life in 2019.

“As a first-generation college student, adjusting to college academics was a challenge. The support I received from the members in this chapter helped make the transition smoother and provided me with role models. This is why I chose to run for Academic Achievement Chair, to help our members see and reach their highest potential regardless of their background. Here at Zeta Tau Alpha, we offer mentorship, class study resources, study groups, academic workshops, alumni support, and academic competitions to foster an environment where every Zeta is celebrated and supported. As Academic Achievement Chair, I personally support members through one-on-one coaching, managing workshops, providing resources, and upholding our chapter’s academic standards. I am so grateful for the opportunity to serve the incredible women of this chapter. I cannot wait to see all they will accomplish.”

Our academic environment seeks not only to celebrate victories but also to provide consistent resources to reach higher goals, as well as remedial help. Our academic committee is available to guide members on: how to navigate adjusting to college curricula, which campus departments to reach out to if there is an emergency, how to set academic plans to recover from difficult classes, and how to channel one’s grades and achievements into their post-college goals. We provide ample resources to connect members and alumnae who are studying for similar graduate exams, who are available to tutor in certain subjects, and who can advise through the application and interview process for certain job industries.
